ASAP methodology and system landscape

ASAP : Accelerated SAP
Phase 1: Initial project preparation
In this phase the project managers, project leads get involved to discuss about the following
  • Consultants
  • workshop
  • Project starting and Ending dates
Phase 2: Preparation of business blue print
  • Question and Answer database and customer input templates are prepared
  • Find gap in gap analysis ( whatever the standard procedures that are not followed by client or whatever the client requirement which are not available in std SAP are known as gaps)
Phase 3: Realization
  • Baseline Config: Without development and enhancement we will configure the SAP (whatever that are available in standard SAP
  • Final config: With development and enhancement we configure SAP whatever that we found in gap analysis those will be done in this final configuration to close the gaps. ie to generate reports, enhancements we will give functional specification to the ABAP people (i,e) tables and fields
Phase 4: Final Preparation
  • cutover plans, End-User taining, data upload will be done in this phase.
Phase 5: Go Live and Post implementation support
  • Based on SLA (Service level agreement) consultants will provide support to the endusers . whenever they get problems in production.

System Landscape:
System that we are installing SAP
It is always advisable to use 3 landscape system


Once the testing is approved in QAS by the end user (client) the transport can be moved from QAS to Prod or from Dev to Prod depending on the system configuration

With transport organizer we will transfer the request and tasks from source client to target client. In SE09 or SE10 to release a transport, release the task first and then the request (Parent).

Types of Testing:

Unit testing ( in Development system)
Test whether configuration is working correctly or not within the module

Integration Test (Quality system)
Apply data between different modules in quality system

Quality Test (Quality system)
Data upload previous client from Non-SAP system to SAP system using LSMW or BDC. This upload is just for trial and error.
